The holidays bring many wonderful get-togethers, celebrations, and gifts. They also come with schedule upsets, overwhelm, and often anxiety. Remember it’s not just you, it’s also your kids that feel that strain. Not everyone in your family is going to love Auntie Jane’s bear hug, or Grandpa Chris’s prickly kisses, so make sure to respect each other’s personal preferences! A great tool to talk to your kids about this is a personal favorite: Don’t Hug Doug. November marked the kickoff of Niemi’s Christmas market, where I have been lucky enough to be a vendor with my book Brian the Brain Head Space. If you’re from the area be sure to come by, it is an absolutely enchanting experience, with wagon rides, lights, farm animals, photos with santa, and bonfires. I have seen people come at 11:00 am to visit Santa, and stay until the sun goes down to wander amongst the lights in Christmas land. I am at the market every Saturday from 11am-7pm until December 18. I will continue taking donations to provide books to schools libraries and charitable organizations, you can donate here.
